Agents of Chaos

“All great changes are preceded by chaos.”

Fear. Four letters. One Word. Have you ever took the time to really dissect the definition of this word? I don’t mean the textbook definition. I am talking about the gravity of how this world can consume our daily lives and form our future. Fear is both a survival instinct and a barrier. Take a moment to think about how an emotion, a feeling can serve many purposes. Fear can put you into a deep state of depression. Fear can stop you from going after what you really want in life. Fear can prevent you from entering into a relationship that is perfect for you. Fear can isolate you and has the potential to destroy you.

Earlier this year, I wrote a post about about embracing change within the new year. And how it’s okay to want to start anew no matter what it may be. Interesting enough, this year has started off on an interesting note. It seems like every other day there is a form of some sort of chaos. With celebrity deaths to global pandemics, it feels like there’s no end in site.

We as a society are used to being told what to do. Advertisements tell us to buy things and move as a consumer. The media serves as a confirmation bias by telling us how to think, when it’s something we already had in the back of our minds.

On September 11th, 2001 two planes crashed into the world trade centers. At 8:46AM a plane crashed into the North Tower. People were told …no they were INSTRUCTED NOT to leave the premises. There were some in the South tower that followed instructions and trusted those in authority following suit. The individuals that decided to leave despite being INSTRUCTED to stay had a better chance of surviving and a lot in fact did.

The point is, this world counts on instruction. We are used to being led in some way or form that we forget to follow our own leads and paths and sometimes those choices are a matter of life and DEATH! So many people put their trust into decision makers not realizing they are human too and that there is always room for error. Just because someone is more educated than you, richer than you, higher up on the totem pole than you doesn’t mean that they are not exempt from failing for being wrong. In MANY cases, your decisions and choices are the right way! There comes a time where we have to be our own leaders and decide what’s best for you, your family and loved ones around you.

It’s easier to say than to do especially when these decision makers are your main bread and butter income wise. I just hope in my lifetime we can get to a point to where we can restructure everything to where we the people have more of the ability to decide what’s right and what’s wrong and the freedom to do so. Right now every human being is in a vulnerable state of mind. The unknown is a dark and scary place because we can’t see what’s on the other end and the only way to see it is to wade through the tunnel that gets us to the other side

Utilize this time to reset yourself, love and cherish those around you and do not be afraid to let yourself go. What I mean by that is that it is okay to feel what you are feeling. Fear also causes us to hold back on emotions we feel guilty for having. We feel guilty for feeling sad, angry, depressed or defeated when in reality we should be welcoming them. Your feelings and emotions are valid. However it’s still your responsibility to decide what to do moving forward and to discern whether or not you’re going to allow them to take over yourself, your relationships and career.

Sometimes we can be our own worst enemy. But think of it this way, each day is a moment in time that passes us eventually. When we are upset, depending on the severity how long does it take for that feeling to pass? Or when we’re anxious? Even with positive emotions, realistically we are not in a happy state 24/7. Each of them are moments and you must choose what you do with those moments. You can choose to wallow and fester in those moments, or you can also choose to go through those feelings, accept and continue to move forward. Feelings of content and blissfulness however are longer lasting and in order to get to that, it’s inevitable to go through different states of mind

Those who have the most difficult times are the ones who are constantly in a battle with those feelings and emotions and with themselves. Your time is now and what you decide to do in this moment will have an affect for future times. Create, read, meditate, and do whatever you can to nourish your mind.
